“Expecting Rain”
Pastor Corey's Home Study Notes  EHS J2 - KEM Message #34 Sunday - 2/24/2013 (Hebrews 13:8) "We Can't See What We Don't Expect"  (1Kings 18:41-46)  41 And Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink, for there is the sound of abundance of rain. 42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down upon the earth and put his face between his knees 43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up and looked and said, There is nothing. Elijah said, Go again seven times. 44 And at the seventh time the servant said, A cloud as small as a man’s hand is arising out of the sea. And Elijah said, Go up, say to Ahab, Hitch your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you. 45 In a little while, the heavens were black with wind-swept clouds, and there was a great rain. And Ahab went to Jezreel. 46 The hand of the Lord was on Elijah. He girded up his loins and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel [nearly twenty miles]. People have described Revival in the Church in the following ways: ? God at work restoring his Church back to health. ? Never losing the wonder of it all. ? Returning to that first Love.   Why revival is necessary: ? Drought that Israel went through is symbolic of the church and its present day drought... ? Water is a symbol of life and refreshment... ? (Psalm 42:1)    1 As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pantand long for You, O God.  2 My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?  ? (Psalm 63:1-2)    1 O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is.  2 So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.  ? (Ezekiel 34:24-26)    24 And I the Lord will be their God and My Servant David a Prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.  25 And I will confirm with them a covenant of peace and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land, and [My people] shall dwell safely in the wilderness, desert, or pastureland and sleep [confidently] in the woods.

    “Give Me This Mountain”
Pastor Corey's Home Study Notes  EHS J2 - KEM Message #33 Sunday - 2/17/2013 (Hebrews 13:8) "Give Me This Mountain"  Joshua 14:6-15 6 Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: “You know the word which the LORD said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea. 7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart. 8 Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the LORD my God. 9 So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’ 10 And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. 11 As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. 12 Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great andfortified. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said.” 13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. 14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel. 15 And the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim). Then the land had rest from war. ? Every mountain of culture has a demonic stronghold over it seeking to control all those in that mountain. ? It’s impossible to bring transformation to a mountain of culture without first conquering the stronghold over it. ? We conquer strongholds over the mountains of culture by defeating them in our private lives. We gain spiritual and moral authority publicly over every stronghold we’ve conquered personally.   Whenever anyone seeks to climb and conquer a cultural mountain without first contending and winning victory over the ruling stronghold, they will eventually be defeated and controlled by that stronghold.  Note: Each Mountain is identified by a stronghold in the form of an Occupant.  Mountains Strongholds Tribes  1. Family Discouragement Jebusites (trodden down from the root)  2. Church Pride Amorites (elevation)  3. Business Greed Canaanites (Zealous)  4. Education Humanism Hivites (group/system of thoughts in opposition)  5. Government Corruption Girgashites (clay dwellers, flesh)  6. Media Fear Hittites (terror)  7. Arts/Entertainment Immorality Perizzites (those in an open region...open to anything)  What does it take to take the Mountain? Lessons from Caleb: Joshua 14: 6-12 ? (v.6) Caleb remembered what God had already said... ? (v.7) Caleb's report of what could be done was based in "his" convictions alone... (Num. 14:23-24) ? (v.8-9) Caleb remembers his Commitment 45 years ago to follow God "wholeheartedly". ? .....don't just remember what God told you, but remember what you told God! ? Caleb stood on God's promise even when everybody else was scared. He stood apart from the crowd! ? .....they saw Great Giants and a little god, but Caleb saw a Great God and little giants. ? .....the majority was problem-conscious, but Caleb was power-conscious. ? (v.10-11) Caleb remembers God's faithfulness to him. ? .....he saw How God had kept him alive to see the promise... ? ....even though he was older, he was just as strong at 85 as he was at 40!...God can sustain you! ? (v.12) After reflecting on all that, Caleb says, "NOW...Give me this Mountain..." ? ....when God promises you something , you can say "Now" give it to me! ? .....when God is with you, you should be motivated to Drive Out Some Stuff!   It's time to accept the challenge of taking the Mountain!  ? Stand up to the stronghold and take what God has already given you! ? It's time to move to higher ground!   Isaiah 2:2-3  Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Pray...Amen.

    Low Self Esteem
Pastor Corey's Home Study Notes EHS J2 - KEM Message #32 Sunday - 2/10/2013 (Hebrews 13:8) "The Most Deadliest Weapon Used Against You..." ? The Picture of satan is different in the Bible than in the world....he is not a comical creature with red underwear and horns...but an Adversary who is clever and dangerous! ? satan knows your weaknesses and uses them against you... ? (1Peter 5:8-9) ? The Bible doesn't talk as much about the power of satan as it does about his extreme subtlety, trickery, and deceptiveness. ? Ephesians 6:12 tells us that he likes to fight you in the dark where you are easily attacked and deceived... satan's Arsenal: ? His weapons are psychological - Fear, Doubt, Anger, Worry, etc... ? The Weapon with the deadliest force.....Low Self- Esteem! ? ...this is the feeling of Inferiority, Inadequacy, and Low Self Worth! ? These psychological weapons Shackle Christians in spite of all their wonderful spiritual experiences... The Big Four of Low Self- Esteem: ? There are four ways that satan uses this emotional and psychological weapon to destroy you! 1. It paralyzes your potential. ? (Matthew 25:14-30) ? The man with the one talent was immobilized by feelings of Doubt, Fear, and Inadequacy. ? Because he was afraid, he did not invest his talent, but buried it and played it safe... ? His life was a frozen asset....frozen by Fear of the Master, Fear of failure, Fear of comparison to the other two, Fear of taking a risk. ? He did what a lot of Christians do with Low Self -Esteem....NOTHING!...that's what satan wants! 2. It destroys your dreams ? We can't live IN or On our Dreams, but we can live BY them! ? Your dreams are a result of the promise of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:17) ? The Holy Spirit helps us to dream Bold Dreams... ? You cannot live out a bold dream with Low self -esteem...you will ALWAYS fall short! ? (Proverbs 29:18) says, where there is no Vision, the people perish...a dream is a vision... ? ...if you have the wrong vision, you have the wrong dream...the Wrong dream is not of God...And what's not of God will seek to destroy you and your Godly Dreams! ? (Numbers 13:23, 30-33) - low self esteem = grasshopper mentality. (Numbers 14:8-9, 24) ? When you know God is with you, It's hard to have Low Self Esteem issues! 3. It ruins your relationships with God and others. ? When you consider yourself inferior and worthless, you can begin to think that God does not love you...which can lead to issues in your relationship with Him. ? Once you become critical of the Design, you will become resentful toward the designer... ? When you de-value you, you don't have anything to give to others... ? ...people don't want to be around you....Eore mentality (from Pooh) 4. It sabatoges your service ? People with low self esteem will always come up with excuses when asked to do something in the Body of Christ... ? ...Teach Sunday school? "I have trouble standing up in front of people." ? ...Go out in the community and share the Gospel? "I am afraid about confronting people with the Gospel." ? ...Sing on the praise team? "Mary has a much better voice than mine, you should ask her!" ? ...Give your testimony? "I don't think people really care about what I have to say." ? (1 Corinthians 1:26-31) - God uses whom He chooses! ? Low self esteem actually Robs God of opportunities to show off His power and ability through your weaknesses. (2 Corinthians 12:9). ? Glory in your weaknesses so the Strength and Grace of God can be seen! (1 Peter 5:8-10) ...Pray.....Amen!
